The Contemporary American Theater Festival is a four-week annual festival held in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.  Each year the festival features 6 talented playrights.  This year we have chosen to see the play  “My Lord What A Night” by Deborah Brevoort.  Description follows:

“In 1937, after performing a sold-out concert in Princeton, NJ, internationally renowned singer Marian Anderson    was refused a room at the whites-only Nassau Inn. With nowhere to go, Albert Einstein invites her to stay in his home, beginning an intimate friendship between two icons that lasts a lifetime. Based on actual events  during a turbulent time in our nation’s history, Deborah Brevoort’s new play offers a rare glimpse into what transpired that fateful evening.”

Special instructions of location:  Meet to carpool at 11:45am at the Brokenland Park & Ride, East parking lot.  Leave Columbia at 12 noon, arrive in Shepherdstown 1:30pm.  The play starts at 2:30pm and lasts 2 hours.  We will have dinner afterwards at 5:30pm. Dinner will be at either The Press Room on Main Street, Shepherdstown, or the Bavarian Inn nearby. We have reservations at both restaurants, however, the number of people going will determine where we eat. Possibly we will use both restaurants.    After dinner, we will leave Shepherdstown for Columbia, Md, expecting to arrive home 8:30-9pm.  Option to start the day earlier, leave at 10:30am, arrive in Shepherdstown at Noon, have lunch at the Blue Moon Cafe, & browse main street before heading to Shepherd University for the play.  Main Street Shepherdstown and the theater are very close together.  After the play, you can leave, or stay for dinner.
