Today's topic: Memoir

A memoir is defined as an historical account or biography written from personal knowledge/memory or special sources.  Special sources include:  calendars, letters, papers, info from friends/family, genealogy, verbal history (now using videos along w/audios).

Why should you want to do this?

You are creating a document that will cement your legacy for your family/friends; often you will capture events that others did not know or remember.  Biographies have been one of the most read of all books; they often provide the motivation to improve the lives of others. Think of Lincoln’s many biographies.

W/the internet, you  can even share beyond your own family.

I did one, am proud I did it and the five grown children/spouses and 8 grandchildren have enjoyed it too.

Come to join us for our new “Good Morning, Howard!”  zoom group

Monday & Wednesday at 9:00 AM

Our goal is to provide Howard County residents an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, to meet with others, and to participate in the discussion/activities of Health and Wellness. Our content may include using technology to connect with family and friends, gardening, exercise, music, movies, jokes, popular websites, and healthy diet.

Participation is easy because driving is not required. This social program is for TVIH members and older adults from Howard County. This program was started in August.

Volunteers (TVIH members) will take turns to serve as the hosts of the GMH zoom meetings. The hosts will greet the participants, make introductions, and give the feedback/suggestions back to the membership committee.

Most people will join by using their computer, tablet or smartphone. To join, you need a zoom meeting link. The link will be emailed to you after you register.

To Join Zoom Meeting by using a smartphone, dial 1-929-205-6099. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID and the password.  If you are prompted to enter a personal ID, simply press the # sign.

The person using a phone can hear everyone and can talk.  He/she cannot be seen on other people’s screens.

Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
