Travel Club/Potluck: Bulgaria: Early and modern history including personal visits

 
Presented by Claudia Friend (TVIH Member) and Julian Friend. Of special note, Julian is a professor of English in Sofia, Bulgaria (the capital) and visiting his mother. Claudia will begin the presentation with an overview of the country and show photos when she and husband, Joe, visited the country in 2013-14. Julian, who has lived in Bulgaria will go into more historical detail about Bulgaria from 5,000 BC to the 20th and 21st centuries including life under the Nazis and Communism.
Today, Bulgaria’s economy is growing. It is a member of the EU and NATO and has a parliamentary representative democratic system of government. Bulgaria has been visited by very few people from TVIH and is often viewed as having a very conflicted history with an unclear directions for its future. There is much to learn about this country.This will be a very special event.

6:00PM - 7:00PM Potluck Dinner.  Coffee, tea, water paper plates and plastic utensils will be provided. Please bring a dish that will serve 6.

Food Theme: European (Balkan)
If your last name starts with A to L, bring vegetables, salad, rice or pasta.
If your last name starts with M to S, bring fruits or desserts.
If your last name starts with T to Z, bring a meat or ?sh dish.

This is the 27th monthly meeting of the TVIH Travel Group. All members are welcome to join us. Please bring a friend. 

There is no fee to participate.
