About this event

Virtual "Hooked on Books" Book Club

Description:
A Book Club Discussion group that is interested in reading literary fiction, historical fiction, memoirs—books that will lend themselves to good discussions. We meet on the first Tuesday, every other month: February, April, June, August, October, December.

For the month of December, we will be reading........
Little Fires Everywhere is Celeste Ng’s Top Bestseller and Prime Network award-winning TV series.
This novel explores the weight of secrets, nature of art and identity, primal pull of motherhood, and dangers of blindly following rigid rules. In its Shaker Heights suburban Cleveland setting, everything is planned—from the winding roads’ layout to the successful lives residents like Elena Richardson’s family are expected to lead. Enter Mia Warren, an enigmatic artist and single mother who rents a house from the Richardson family. Soon Mia and daughter Pearl become more than tenants: All four Richardson children are drawn to the mother-daughter pair. But Mia brings her mysterious past and disregard for the status quo. When long-term Richardson family friends attempt to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle dramatically divides the town, particularly Mia and Elena. Elena’s determination to uncover Mia’s suspicious motives and secrets builds devastating results.
This is a free event.
Please join us on Zoom to discuss the novel and its relevant themes online.
