Home-Sharing: A Smart Way to Age in Place
HoCo Home Share is a free program designed to help older adults in Howard County remain in their homes while gaining added financial stability and, if desired, social connection and practical support around the home.
In this presentation, participants will learn how homeowners with a room to spare can be thoughtfully matched with local residents seeking housing through a secure, technology-supported process that prioritizes personal preferences, lifestyle compatibility, and choice.
Program staff provide hands-on support at every step -- from introductions and decision-making to developing a clear home-sharing agreement and lease.
The presentation will also highlight the program’s safety and privacy protections, including background and reference checks, home safety inspections, and control over when identifying information is shared.
HoCo Home Share is operated by Bridges to Housing Stability, a trusted nonprofit that has supported Howard County residents with housing services for more than 35 years. It is funded by Howard County's Department of Housing and Community Development.
