Joy Cheung:  Presenting “Aunt Laura’s journey from China to the US”

Joy Cheung will present a slide show about her aunt’s journey from China to the US.  In Seattle in 2015, Joy visited her 94-year-old Aunt Laura, Joy’s mother’s younger sister.  Aunt Laura immigrated to the US from China in 1953, before the US Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 abolished the quota of Chinese immigrants.

Joy will describe how she helped Aunt Laura to write a 36-page memoir based on the material that Joy collected during the 2-day visit.  Aunt Laura was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and computer programmer, and Joy will tell the story of Aunt Laura’s extraordinary life.
