Your hosts: Kathy O’Rourke
Today's topic: Short and Sweet, 6-word messages
(And yes, that does describe quite a few members of the Village that I can think of, but this isn't about them.)
Larry Smith is the creator of the Six Word Memoirs project, which challenges you to express your life story in a clear and concise 6-word message. Since 2006 this idea has become a global phenomenon and has also evolved into a bestselling book series. https://www.sixwordmemoirs.com/about/
Most recently Mr. Smith wrote an essay in the New York Times, "The Pandemic in Six-Word Memoirs". Subsequently the paper put out a challenge to its readers to write in and sum up what the past six months of this pandemic has meant to them. To date they've received thousands of six-word stories sent from people all over the world via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Letters to the Editor and comments to the Smith Op-Ed column.
Just a sampling of these include:
Learning to smile with my eyes
Aging in place. Goodbye footloose retirement.
The world has never felt smaller
Hallway hike, bathtub swim, Pandora concert
Cleaned Lysol container with Lysol wipe
Anthony Fauci, the thinking woman's crush
Hoarded toilet paper. Shoulda been vodka.
I have misplaced my last marble.

Come to join us for our “Good Morning, Howard!” zoom group. We will be meeting for 30 minutes, following the new schedule as listed below:
Mondays & Wednesdays at 9:00 AM
Our goal is to provide Howard County residents an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, to meet with others, and to participate in the discussion/activities of Health and Wellness. Our content may include using technology to connect with family and friends, gardening, exercise, music, movies, jokes, popular websites, and healthy diet.
Participation is easy because driving is not required. This social program is for TVIH members and older adults from Howard County.
Volunteers (TVIH members) will take turns to serve as the hosts of the GMH zoom meetings. The hosts will greet the participants, make introductions, and give the feedback/suggestions back to the membership committee.
Most people will join by using their computer, tablet or smartphone. To join, you need a zoom meeting link. The link will be emailed to you after you register.
