Join fellow Village members in experiencing the story of the immigrants who settled in the Lower East Side of New York City. Many different immigrant groups have made their first home in America in this area of New York. On this trip we will be attending tours offered by the Tenement Museum over the 2 day visit. Persons attending the trip will be responsible for their own transportation to New York on MegaBus, Our Bus, or Amtrak to arrive in NYC by noon. Travelers will be staying at the Hotel Mimosa for one night, attending 2 tours at the Tenement Museum on June 6th and doing one walking tour of the neighborhood on June 7th. The June 6th tours at the Tenement Museum are "Hard Times" tour at 2 pm showing how immigrants survived depressions and "Tasting at the Tenement" at 6:30 pm which includes tastings of food of the immigrants. On June 7th we will participate in a guided walking tour of the neighborhood, ethnic tasting of dumplings, fried plantains, cream puffs and more while exploring the immigrant experience and some of the ways immigrant foods have shape American food
