You are invited to a workshop and discussion focused on managing through the pandemic.
  • Intended outcome: awareness of options, support from others, skills in managing.
  • Structure: zoom based discussion on the identified topic which deals with a specific aspect of managing through the pandemic. Suggested readings and videos will be provided before each session.
  • The hope is to develop content and insights that can be useful to others.
 
 
Session 1: Understanding the pandemic. How do I create a personal management plan?
  • Developing an approach to the uncertainty, lack of information and range of changes
  • Understanding the factual and known aspects of the pandemic
  • Exploring the forecasts and scenarios for length and intensity of the pandemic and options for mitigation and opening the economy
  • Exploring mitigations based on age rather than personal characteristics. Will employer and government policy create restrictions based on age? Exploring the science of risk indicators.
  • Developing a personal approach on risk, shelter in place, and distancing.

Session 2:  Approaches to Daily Living, Social Distancing & Isolation
  • Identifying risk factors in daily living. Updating mitigations based on new research
  • Tips and hints on social distancing
  • Overcoming the negatives of isolation
  • Identifying programs and methods that create community and connection.

Session 3: Caring for Others. How Can I Help the Isolated. How Do I Help  the Community?
  • What to do about relatives and friends that are isolated?

  • How should manage purchase of protective equipment and food?
  • How can I help the community? What are the many contributions that I can make? What is needed? How do I learn about what is needed?
